Goobye/Hello

Six years ago I introduced the world to Nick Nice with my indepenent, debut album, Sunday Afternoons. Since then I have provided the world with quality Hip-Hop music in the form of three more full length solo albums, a group/compilation album, four mixtapes, and a slew of featured guest spots on an array of other artists' projects. I am nothing less than proud of my catalogue, and am truly appreciative of every single one of you who have shown support through downloads, plays, coming out to live shows, and simply just spreading the word. I can honestly say that the majority of the time invested in creating and performing my music was beyond enjoyable, and truly a dream come true.

With that said, I feel it is time for me to step away from the microphone, at least for the time being. I got into the "game" for the love of the music...the fun, the excitment, and the passion. It was a way to release my feelings, express my creativity, and mostly, contribute to a culture and genre of music that I have the utmost respect for. And I could not be more honored to have done so. Unfortunately, I have reached a place that I had been warned about by numerous veteran artists...the place where making music has turned into more work than fun. Now, that's not to say I don't accept that this game demands hard work, a constant grind, and continuous struggle. Afterall, struggle is one of the biggest influences. But when the pen hits that pad, or when you step behind that microphone with the beat bumping through your headphones, you should feel completely free and own that moment...and those feelings no longer hit me in either of those scenarios. I can contribute that to a lot of different things, but there's no need to get into all that. But forcing music is the last thing I plan to do, so unless that drive coarses through my veins again, I will remain a fan and leave the creating to those who still have that same love for it that I always did.

Now, the last thing I plan to do is leave the Hip-Hop community without that quality music that you have come to expect from Try-City Entertainment. One of the main things that has remained a constant in Nick Nice music from the beginning is my right hand man, the Try-City Capo, JK Tha Cap'n. Whether lending his vocals to a hit track, sharing his hook expertise when a track needs that one little thing to grab the listeners by the throat so they scream along during at least those eight bars, or just simply being there to critique the finished product, JK has been instrumental (no pun) in Nick Nice and all of Try-City Entertainment's success. So, as I step from the healm, tha Cap'n is sure to seemlessly fill the void with no time to waste.

Currently, JK is hard at work on his debut solo album, Longshot, which is sure to solidify his spot in the local scene, as well as take the world wide web by storm. In preparation for his album's release, there is also plans for an EP containing a mixture of old and new joints that will familiarize the world with his abilities, and showcase his growth from a prison yard, chest-pounding bar spitter, to the polished, well rounded songwriter he has become. Whether it's streetwise lyrics over a gritty backdrop, or that club bounce and hook that sticks in your head for days, JK will deliver.

So, as much as I hate to step away from the game that I love so much, I know that the Try-City label and family that I worked so hard to build will be in more than capable hands. So again, I thank all who have shown me support over the past six years. All I ask is that you continue to represent Try-City Entertainment, and at least give all future music from the team a chance. I would never leave y'all hanging with anything less than true quality. God bless y'all, and holla at cha BOY!
